I started a new playwrighting project today! I’ve given it the very tentative title of “The Economics of Gender,” and it’s an absurdist exploration of trans-gender identity, and the idea of killing off past and future versions of yourself in order to live authentically. I’m excited to see where this goes, because this is my first time writing with semi-autobiographical subject matter, and attempting to tackle absurdism. I’ve had a recent change of heart regarding absurdism (even 1 month ago you could find me bashing the entire genre to anybody who would listen), so I thought I’d give the style a try. Again, this writing is fully in a draft-phase, so don’t worry about the exact quality of the writing. This blog is more of an exercise for me to practice sharing my work before I know that it’s the best it can be. Thanks for reading, and feel free to reach out with comments or suggestions for what I have written or will write next. Love, Thompson.
